NFT and CFT Scholarships Available!

Attention graduating seniors! is mom or dad an NFT member? Then please apply for the NFT scholarship. Deadline to apply is April 23.

CFT also offers scholarships to high school seniors and continuing college students who are children or dependents of CFT members in good standing. Students enrolled in four-year courses of study are eligible for $3000 scholarships; those enrolled in two-year courses of study are eligible for $1000. Be Kind - Contribute a Sick Day

Thank you to the many members who have contributed in the past to the Catastrophic Leave Account. NFT members are able to donate one to three days of sick leave per year to help another member avoid hardship/loss of pay when a serious illness strikes. 

Please consider donating a day to the Catastrophic Leave Account. 

Contributions of sick leave days may be made throughout the year to the Catastrophic Leave Account. Complete the 'Contribute to Catastrophic Leave' form and send directly to Human Resources.

Retirement: Important Information

Do you have a plan for retirement? At a recent CalSTRS workshop the presenter shared how many teachers' "plan" is to work until they can't stand it anymore and "hope" they had enough to retire on. Guess what? "Hope" is not a plan.

Be familiar with your CalSTRS defined benefit plan. Start by looking at your CalSTRS statement. Have you designated a beneficiary (Page 3)? What about the Defined Benefit Supplemental account listed in the statement? How will you designate this?

How will my Social Security retirement benefits be calculated? Read the details of the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset and find out how they will affect you in your retirement.
